Facilities
The chemistry facilities within the CSI Physical science department are outstanding, especially for a community college.
We incorporate advanced technology into our general and organic chemistry labs, preparing our students for advanced
laboratory work.
We have three dedicated chemistry laboratories, as well as a preparation room, a stock room, and a special projects lab.
Two of the laboratories will accommodate approximately 24 students each, and the third is designed for 18 students and
used for organic chemistry labs. One of the larger labs is equipped with computer stations and digital interfaces that
are used for data collection and analysis. All of the labs are modern and housed together in the Evergreen building.
In addition to the benchtop laboratory interfaces, we utilize a number of sophisticated, major instruments in our laboratories.

An Anasazi EFT-60 was installed in April, 2000. It is an upgrade of a Varian EM360L CW instrument. A C13 accessory was installed with the upgrade. All of the original controls have been replaced by a standard microcomputer and two units from Anasazi Instruments. Only the “box” containing the original magnet and sample compartment remains from the original Varian instrument. |
